Highbrook Motel Bar Harbor

Meet the Owners
For over twenty-five years, The Highbrook Motel has been lovingly operated by June & Lewis Bowden.

kayakersAs a family operated business, you will always find a member of our family on the property, making sure that our guests are comfortable and cared for. We enjoy assisting our guests with their sightseeing plans and offering suggestions over a fresh cup of coffee. We are open seasonally from May through October and we look forward to providing you with the best possible service and accommodations as well as one of the best values in Bar Harbor.

Our son, Adam, can be found behind the front desk nearly every day of the season and is the third generation of the Bowden family to venture into the hospitality field. In the off season, he is busy pursuing a degree in Business, although he has discovered that operating a family business is quite an education as well.

Our daughter, Lynne, is pursuing a degree in the medical field but can also be found helping out in the office whenever she is not busy studying. Her desire to help people will carry on a family tradition of caring for others.

We have a very dedicated staff of housekeepers who strive to maintain our guest rooms to the highest possible standards. They take pride in their work and pay attention to detail, to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

We look forward to greeting you at the Highbrook Motel and sharing beautiful Bar Harbor with you. We hope that you will become one of the many guests that we welcome back each year.

BOWDEN FAMILY TIPS
The Island Explorer is the best free means of transportation in the area. Be sure to take advantage of it.

Taking the “Cat” ferry? Check in the day before departure to beat the morning crowd.

Dine early and save on dinner. Many restaurants offer early-bird specials.

Sunset is just as spectacular from Cadillac Mountain as sunrise, and you’ll get to sleep in.

Visit Thunder Hole 3 to 4 hours after low tide.

Take a boat cruise to appreciate the unique coastal scenery of the area.

Relax and enjoy the scenic views of Acadia on a guided tour through the park.

Don’t miss the Shore Path - a half mile walk along the downtown waterfront.

Step back in time on a horse-drawn carriage ride in Acadia National Park.

Tea and popovers at the Jordan Pond House should not be missed. Reservations recommended.

Explore Bar Island. Fabulous panoramic views of Bar Harbor and the mountains of Acadia. At low tide you can walk across a sand bar to get there. Just don’t get caught when the tide comes in!

Tired from biking? The Island Explorer will transport you and your bicycle from several locations back to downtown – and the Highbrook.
